BLACK HISTORY & WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH!

Hello friends!

As we celebrate black history month, I want to share with you two local black women who are doing amazing things in our community.

Make time to attend the book launch celebration of the book 'We Rise in Power.' The book shares  rich, personal stories of challenge, resilience, and triumph and  brings together a collective of diverse women from across North America who advocate for social change and offer pathways and strategies for transformative actions. One of those women is  my friend, Michelle  El Khoury, owner of Yogamazia in Newtown, PA a yoga studio dedicated to children, families and pregnant mothers.

The Philadelphia book launch celebrates Black History month and Women's History Month with Michelle and other authors on Saturday March 4th.  Be sure to purchase this amazing book which is a fundraiser for Yoga Gives Back an organization that focuses on empowering women and the next generation.

My friend Dr Kaytura Felix, Distinguished Scholar just launched "Griotte's Beat"  : A CONVERSATION ABOUT THE EVERYDAY BRILLIANCE OF BLACK WOMEN.  Her new podcast is centered on the perspective of Black women from all walks of life, and many corners of the African diaspora to learn how we tackle injustice in our everyday lives.  Listen to the very first exciting episode  where she interviews Dr. Layli Maparyan, the Executive Director of the Wellesley Center for Women about her upbringing as a biracial Black child, her work on womanism, and the genius of everyday women.
